What Division should my Child Register?

First Time registering for our League?

Not sure what Division to register your child?

This should help, if not please reach out to the leauge.

 

BaseballGuidelines by division:

T-Ball [Ages: 4-5] (Cal Ripken Baseball)             

Practices Optional, Game Time: approximately 1h, 15m

  • A Tee is used to develop swing (5 misses = strikeout)
  • An inning ends when all players batted
  • Outs made in the field will NOT be counted
  • Extra bases can be taken on outfield hits only
  • Max of 10 fielders (P, C, 4 in- and 4 out-fielders)
  • Typical season consists of 10 completed games

 

Rookie [Ages: 6-8] (Cal Ripken Baseball)            

Practices Optional, Game Time: approximately 1h, 30m

  • A pitching machine is used (5 pitch MAX)
  • Foul balls do NOT count toward any of the pitches
  • Introduction to baseball fundamentals
  • An inning ends with 3 outs OR all players batted
  • Outs made in the field will be counted
  • Extra bases can be taken on outfield hits only
  • Max of 10 fielders (P, C, 4 in- and 4 out-fielders)
  • Typical season consists of 10 completed games

Note:  For 8-yr old BASEBALL players, a parental/guardian decision must be made based on skill level.  The decision will be for the player to stay with Rookie and continue to use the pitching machine or advance to the Minors and play live player-pitch.

 

Minors [Ages: 8/9-12] (Cal Ripken Baseball)                                           

Game Time: approximately 2h

  • Competitive play is encouraged
  • Strategy and situational play is highlighted
  • An inning ends with 3 outs OR when 4 runs scored
  • Base stealing is allowed and Bunting is introduced
  • A continuous batting order is used
  • Max of 9 fielders (P, C, 4 in- and 3 out-fielders)
  • Game time: 6-innings or 1h 50m (start of last inning)
  • Typical season consists of 10-12 games

 

Majors [Ages: 9/10-12] (Cal Ripken Baseball)                                        

Game Time: approximately 2h

  • Competitive play is showcased
  • Regular baseball rules apply
  • A 9-player starting line-up is used
  • Swing players are used (3-inning min. per player)
  • A 10-run rule applies after the 4th inning
  • Game time: 6-innings or 1h 50m (start of last inning)
  • Eligible for Cal Ripken sanctioned tournaments
  • Typical season consists of 12-15 games

 

Babe Ruth [Ages: 13-16] (Babe Ruth Baseball)                                       

Game Time: approximately 2h

  • Competitive play is showcased
  • Regular baseball rules apply
  • A 10-run rule applies after the 5th inning
  • Game time: 7-innings or 1h 50m (start of last inning)
  • Games can be played in neighboring towns
  • Typical season consists of 10-12 game
